Its great to know, Restaurants are creating menus with special eating requirements. Either they are putting little signs next to the menu item to specify low fat, lactose free, gluten free,... or print a whole new menu page. I personally like a seperate menu, since I don't want to be reminded of the items that I can not eat.
Having Trained Chef in the kitchen makes a great deal with food allergies. You can not imagine how many times I was served food with flour in it, in restaurants. Uneducated wait staff and Chefs claims special food requirements are spoiled requests or to loose weight. What ever the reason is, in hospitality business, they should take care of the customer, not trick them. "But there is very little in it" excuse, after they get caught serving you something you don't want in the food, drives me crazy!
So be alert, choose restaurants with food allergy awareness, and Thank your Lucky stars that you can not eat Junk Fast Foods anymore=)
